Find Things Like

If you follow my instagram stories, you know that a few months ago my office had a big transformation! *If you don’t follow me, go do that RIGHT NOW and then watch my “Office Trans” highlight*

When we moved into our house this past June, it truly felt like a new chapter in our lives had finally begun. A new home gave us the opportunity to transform the space in a way that complimented my style and design tastes. With the added help of somewhere like a boise movers company, we were able to bring over any items from our old home that we thought would look amazing in this new space, something that we couldn’t have done on our own. As well as bringing over our old furniture, a new home also presented us with the chance to buy new pieces as and when we chose to do so. The little front room was meant to be a formal dining room, with dining furniture from companies such as Lulu & Georgia. It was dark DARK blue and had a white chair rail wrapped all the way around the room.

At our old townhouse, my office was in the second bedroom upstairs (along with all the other junk that we didn’t know where to store). It was super annoying having to run up and down stairs all day for work and I knew I didn’t want to do that again in our new house. So my dream was to have an office all to my self on the main floor! Since we didn’t really need a formal dining room at this point in our lives, I decided that this would be the perfect room to make my own. Converting a section of a room into a dedicated workspace can be simple; all you really need to do is put in a desk, a chair and some office supplies and you’re set! To make sourcing everything easier, you can find it all online on sites like Office Monster who have products to satisfy all your home office needs.

At first I tried to remove the chair rail so I could have normal flat walls to paint. But man! That railing was bolted into the walls and had to stay. I knew I didn’t want just the chair rail because that seemed very “dining roomy” to me and I didn’t want people coming into my office knowing right away that the room was supposed to be a dining room. I wanted it to look and feel like an office! So after much research of different types of wall paneling, I decided to go with an “applied molding” technique. Luckily the room already had the base molding and the crown molding. All I needed to do was add the box molding above and below the chair rail! A full 2 weeks later of measuring, sawing, nailing, and painting the moldings and the walls, I had finally completed my office walls! I knew it was probably beneficial to look into office setup companies, for instance American Office Installations provides office furniture relocation and setup services to Minneapolis, St. Paul and other Minnesota cities. This gave me hope that I’d be able to find a service that could actually turn the dining room into a complete office setup, while also looking and feeling like one too. For the finishing touches, I bought a blue velvet couch and a new dimmable ceiling light. I’ll list all the sources for my furniture at the end of this post. Enjoy!
