Their story:
“Phil and I met after a professional ice hockey game, where he was working as an athletic trainer for the team. We first saw each other through the glass before the game and shyly waved at each other because he knew my friend Sara (who I was there with) and had heard about me through her. After the game we went out and went to a few bars with members of the staff and my friends Sara and Alyssa (who are both in the wedding!). We talked all night, but he didn’t have the nerve to ask for my number. Sara eventually just gave it to him because she was so excited that two of her friends had clicked so well and wanted us to get to know each other! On our first date, we walked around New York city talking and laughing until it was pitch black and then went to dinner. After that date I think both of us knew that this was going to be something amazing, and it was! I am so happy that he was able to meet my father before he passed away, and that they got along so well. Phil was never able to ask him for permission to marry me, but we both know the answer would have been a resounding yes! Phil has been with me through the most challenging years of my life after I lost my dad, and he has never faltered. He is my best friend, and genuinely just the coolest person I’ve ever met.”
