Before Covid, I honestly didn’t photograph too many maternity sessions. I think most people just hired me for my wedding work and then a newborn session every once in a while (because who can resist a tiny little cute baby??). But now that my weddings are all rescheduled, I’m doing maternity sessions right and left. And I love them! These soon-to-be parents, Andrea and Ben, are originally from the southern states, but got married and spent some time in Dallas TX before recently moving back. They bought this beautiful new home in Charlotte and are expecting their first baby boy this summer. Andrea and Ben wanted their maternity photos documented in their new home, which I absolutely loved!! They just moved in so everything was so fresh and bright. I immediately loved the minimalist style that they have. Everything was modern and styled to perfection! The perfect setting for maternity photos at home.
We started with photos on their gorgeous sectional before moving into their kitchen (aren’t the blue cabinets stunning?!), and then dining room. Their home has lots of big windows, so I couldn’t resist putting them both next to every window for portraits! I had so much fun posing them all over their new house. I loved all the blank walls and the subtle styling everywhere. Made a perfect studio for me, haha! I also loved how because this was their home, these photos will be so much more personal to them. The photos celebrate not only their growing baby, but their new home as well.
We ended the session in the room where the nursery is going to be. It’s currently a blank canvas of possibility but I’m excited to see it all decked out with decor. Andrea’s taste in interior design is to die for, so I’m sure the nursery will be breathtaking.
