Charlotte North Carolina Farm Engagement | Raeleigh & Zander

I was super excited when Raeleigh and Zander wanted to have their engagement session at a private farm near Charlotte, North Carolina. They had a personal connect to the farm and it’s owners which made it even better. There’s something about the open fields and soft evening sunlight and really sets an intimate and romantic mood. For this Charlotte farm engagement, and all my engagement sessions, I always like to start my sessions getting a feel for the couple and how they interact with each other. That usually give me a good idea as to the tone for the rest of the session. Some couples, like Raeleigh and Zander, naturally interact with sweet kisses, nose nuzzles, and giggles. So that’s the vibe I took and flew with for the whole rest of the session.

It’s for this reason that I highly HIGHLY recommend doing an engagement session with your photographer before your wedding day. As a photographer, engagement sessions give me the opportunity to get to know my couples, how they interact together, and how best to photograph them. Then when the wedding day comes, all the guess work is done! Meeting beforehand in a causal setting for an engagement session is also super beneficial to my couples. They are so much more relaxed on the wedding day because of it!

Another thing I really loved about this session is their choice in outfits. Picking an outfit for your engagement session doesn’t have to be difficult. You can read more about my tips on that HERE. For their first outfit they stuck with neutrals and complementary patterns. When mixing patterns, have one person wear a bigger pattern while the other person wears a smaller pattern. This was perfect with Zander’s tiny striped button-up and Raeleigh’s subtle polka dots on her dress. The second outfit was slightly more dressy with Zander in a button-up and slacks with Raeligh in a floral sundress. Both outfits were perfect for this relaxed farm session!
