Emily and Kyle are basically the sweetest couple ever. Not only are they crazy smart (graduates from Duke University), but they also make cookies from scratch, belt Disney songs, and climb trees to sneak kisses ;) We took their engagement photos in Valley Forge near where Emily grew up, and it was magical. I still can’t get over all the rolling green hills in Pennsylvania. Enjoy and be sure to read more about their story at the end of the post!

Here is their story:
“When Emily first met Kyle, she thought he was trying to hit on her because he kept holding the door open for her from extremely far across the Duke University’s quad. She refused to walk through the door, and he thought she was weird. Apparently he was just much more polite and a gentleman compared to the rest of the Duke student population. He won her over later by impressing her with his coloring skills at a diner during their first fall break when the rest of the campus went home for a few days. They started hanging out, watching TV shows during their lunch times in Kyle’s Duke paraphernalia-filled room. Kyle tried to teach Emily the few sounds in Arabic he had learned in his class. Emily tried to teach Kyle to make cookies the “right way” from scratch, instead of from a store refrigerated dough. They dodged their friends’ blowdarts in the hallways, and Emily watched Kyle play IM soccer with the Blackwell 300’s. They quickly became best friends.”
“One evening, they were hanging out, singing karaoke-style to Disney songs instead of working on homework. Mulan’s “Be A Man” came on. Kyle knew every word, and belted them out as loud as possible with Emily. She fell for him that night. December rolled around, and they watched the first snowfall of the year together from a tree in the Duke Gardens, and built a mini snowman together. It was California Kyle’s first real snowfall. That night, a mutual friend pushed them together to make them slow dance to Sinatra’s “The Way You Look Tonight” at the end of the Harry Potter-themed “Yule Ball.” Late that night, Kyle asked Emily to be his girlfriend.”
“Emily and Kyle have been inseparable since. They climbed their tree many times throughout college, to hide out from the North Carolina heat, to relax after classes, to sneak kisses & carve their initials, and to take graduation photos. After graduation, they moved to Boston, where they each earned their Master’s degrees while surviving record-breaking snowfalls & blizzards. California Kyle, who saw his first snow just 4 years before, became a pro at shoveling. In July 2016, on a weekend trip back to Duke, Kyle surprised Emily by proposing in their tree, where they had spent that first snowfall their freshman year, and climbed so many times throughout the rest of their years in college.”
All the heart eyes :)
