What to Wear as a Wedding Photographer
There is a misconception that all wedding photographers need to be wearing all black, or a dress shirt and dress pants to “look the part” as a photographer. I’m going to tell you that this IS A MYTH and share with you my personal thoughts on what to wear as a wedding photographer.
My top priority is always comfort. This starts with my footwear. I use to wear super uncomfortable, yet super cute, shoes to all my weddings, and my feet KILLED at the end of the night. I’ve been photographing weddings for over 10 years and comfortable shoes can make all the difference, which is why I wear white sneakers to all my weddings now.
Speaking of comfort, let’s move on to clothes. I like to blend in with the guests, so depending on the style of wedding, I have a mix of different dress and jumpsuit options depending on if it’s a casual outdoors wedding (one where I can wear a checked dress and sun hat) or if it’s a formal black-tie wedding (I might wear a nicer dress or a sleek jumpsuit). All my clothing choices are stretchy, not revealing so that I don’t have to worry when I bend over or crouch, have pockets (or most do), and allow me to blend in with the crowd.
