My 2017 Behind the Scenes post is finally here!! This is my favorite post of the year and gosh… there were waaaaay too many options to choose from. I had over 400 images from all my second shooters this year to sort through and it was hard but I finally narrowed it down to about 200.. SO this post is definitely one of my longer ones (sorry not sorry). It’s always so fascinating to reflect back on the year. Not just how many images have developed but also my gear I use, how I approach a wedding day, the fact that I’m shooting film at ALL my weddings and sessions now, getting featured in a magazine (2 actually!) for the first time, and of course the opportunity to meet and work with so many talented human beings. I feel honored.
Enjoy and feel free to also check out my behind the scenes post from last year :)
A fine example of how glamorous I look on a wedding day carrying all my gear like a pack mule… ha ha! Huge thank you to the existence of my Shoot Sac, my Kelly Boy bag from Kelly Moore, and my Hold Fast Money Maker!
I can’t resist breaking out a dance move or two at my weddings. I hope my brides don’t mind!
One of my favorite parts of a wedding day is styling all their details!
Fun Fact- I love listening to the ceremonies and speeches at weddings. I laugh and shed tears with all the other guests :)
Styling!! My favorite!!
Aaaaand styling again :)
Can you tell I love styling yet? :)
Mirror selfie at the hospital! I was doing a birth story and I never have second shooters for these (mostly because there is a limit to how many people can be in the room) so I take my own behind the scenes photos.
Look at that cute floral wreath from Sandra Porterfield Floral Design around the dog statue! Cutest thing!
Now I know why my calves as so sore after weddings. Because I’m constantly on my tippy toes! Which is funny because I’m 5’8″ so it’s not like I’m short ha!
I love helping my brides at their weddings. Holding dresses, fixing hair, etc. Anything for the perfect, flawless photo in addition to helping my brides feel amazing all day long :)
Rolling film for my Pentax!!
Working with my favorite videographers, Greg from Willow Tree Films and Matt Stambaugh!
Getting my gear together before the ceremony!
Loved working with William from Studio 57 Production!
One of my second shooters playing with their crystal… lol
My film apron was getting pretty saggy from all the film I was shooting at this beautiful wedding!
Orchestrating the sparkler exit before everyone lined up!
The rainiest wedding I’ve ever photographed and I’m so glad I was prepared! The street was completely flooded and good thing I packed my trusty rain boots! And huge thank you to the owner of the The Booking House for coming outside in the rain to rake all the leaves out of the gutter to drain the street for us.
And a HUGE thank you to all my second shooters this year for taking all these wonderful photos!
