These newborn photos in Charlotte NC were so fun! Newborn sessions are some of my very favorite types of photography. I take a lifestyle approach where we photograph the newborn in the home, natural and unposed. Rather then photographing the babies in baskets or bowls of fruit, I personally love the lifestyle look so much more! Do you want to remember your baby just as they are with all their cute little details or would you rather remember them airbrushed and smushed in a basket. I never understood the whole basket thing to be honest… haha
Since all my newborn sessions are done in the home, I usually start in the nursery. If my clients don’t really have a nursery, we just find place in their house with good natural light. Trust me, you don’t have to have a beautifully decorated home for newborn photos. Most of the pictures are just close-ups of the baby and the parents with the baby, and you don’t need a special background for those.
For baby beau here, we did his newborn photos in Charlotte North Carolina. He did have a nursery so we spent half of the time in there and the other half in a bedroom where the family cuddled up on the bed. This is the second baby I’ve photographed here in the south where he was swaddled and then wrapped in a blue bow, and I love it! Must be a southern tradition.

Like I’ve said in the past, my favorite photos during the newborn session are with the baby and each of the parents. You can just see the glow on their faces! Super sweet. We even got a photo with the whole family (dogs included!) which was super fun! You guys know how much I love sessions with dogs!
