When I was living in Pennsylvania, one of my very favorite locations to take photos was Longwood Gardens. I just love giant gardens venues in general. They always look so amazing year round because the staff is constantly planting new things that are seasonal and stunning. That’s why I also love Duke Gardens and Reynolda Gardens here in North Carolina. It has the same beautiful, seasonal vibe. This Longwood Gardens fall engagement session was no different. The fall colors were insane!
You can check out one of my favorite Reynolda Gardens engagement session here!
Since moving to North Carolina in 2018, I still go back up north to shoot weddings and sessions a few times a year. At the end of 2020, I had the opportunity to photograph Lisa and Ted for their engagement session one fall morning and it was so fun! The weather was overcast, which means the light it even and you can pretty much photograph anywhere and it’s going to look amazing. Once we got through the entrance gate, we immediately turned left and headed straight to the main fountain garden. Here there was lots of stonework and columns all crawling with red and green vines. I’ve honestly never seen Longwood Gardens looks quite as “fall” as it had on this day.
After exploring the fountains and making out way around the tower and waterfall, Lisa and Ted did a quick wardrobe change and we walked over to the rose garden and the east side of the venue. Here the landscape was a lot more organic and wild. The session ended by the lake near the Italian Gardens before we went back to the parking lot. I loved spending this time with Lisa and Ted before their wedding in Philadelphia in fall of 2021!! Super excited!
